1-800-CONTACTS sent me the wrong prescription contacts (+8 instead of -8) and I had to book an eye examination because I thought there was something seriously wrong with my eyes. Within seconds the doctor told me I had been given the wrong prescription and gave me a pair of the correct lenses.
She advised me to contact 1-800-CONTACTS about receiving a reimbursement for the unnecessary eye exam. I paid $65 just to be told this company made a mistake. I reached out to 1-800-CONTACTS and they told me they were unable to reimburse me, but would offer 10% off a future purchase.
I will not be using this company again. They refused to right their mistake and I ended up having to pay for it.
The lack of basic common sense, I would believe, just couldn't be humanly possible, until I spoke to reps. At 800 contacts. I am now a true believer. Or is it? Intentionally illegal!? So. Let's review.
Day 1- 9/12/2020 -Saturday- a $515.00 order for my son with an overnight delivery with potential 1 day delay to check with doctor prescription verification and a daytime delivery to be no later than 9/15.
9/15 - no delivery. No follow up from 800 contacts.
9/16 - I have call them to find out why no delivery. "ma'm, It should be there by 9/17"
9/17- STILL no contacts. No call from company. I call them AGAIN to find out that only a partial order now arriving by next day- Mind you. No mention of partial order and they say contacts have been on back order for a while. Would have been nice to know.
9/18- Still no contact delivery and no follow up from company. I call them to find out that it is still in transit and not their fault. UPS's fault!
9/19- still not contact delivery- they 50$ off order. A pinch of courtesy, though I promise you, it doesn't last...
9/19 late evening - a UPS delivery of partial order but the order is ONLY ONE EYE! And the point of this is what? Again. Would have been nice to know!
9/20- and DAY 7! I have to call them. "sorry for the mix up, we still cannot find the complete order". "we need to track UPS"
I then, cancel ALL order's and demand my money back. 800 contacts says they cannot do this until the order is found. NOW. How is their miscommunication between UPS and them, my problem?! Rep. Then refuses pay back, until order is found. I then get a manager and she says she'll refund part of my money and my card will be credited within 3-5 business days.
IT IS NOW -9/25- NOTHING returned. Not one red cent. I then call again. " i'm sorry, ma'm. You will get a check in the mail"
9/27- no credit to my credit card(partial amount) and still waiting on my check refund.
Oh. And to top it off. They won't refund the 2 boxes of right eye( useless without the other eye) until I return on my dime!. This is where you'd think possibly basic human courtesy would enter the situation. I was wrong. 15 days later, 6 different rep conversations ONLY when I call... still waiting on refund from these illegal POS company. My mission is to offer a PSA every week, somehow, to all who consider ordering from this company. Garbage company is an understatement.

Simply the worst company ever. They have NO customer service whatsoever. Ordered a year supply of contacts and was to receive a $100 debit card. I received it months later and when I tried to activate the card it had already expired. Called 1800contacts and they were no help at all. Offered me $50. Off my next purchase and laughed. I asked them which company benefited from sending me a worthless card. They refused to answer which was all I needed to know. Don't believe anything these scam artists say it is all lies.
I placed an order on 3/18 with my contacts prescription uploaded to the site. On 3/19 they said they cannot process because my first name got cut off, but this was how the doctor's office printed out. They said it would take just a business day to verify and confirm with the doctor's office. On 3/25 I followed up. On 3/26 they asked for my doctor's number. WHAT HAPPENED TO JUST A BUSINESS DAY TO VERIFY??? WHY DIDN'T THEY ASK FOR THE NUMBER SOONER??? WHY WAITED UNTIL I FOLLOWED UP A WEEK LATER TO DO THEIR JOB???
I sent them my spectacle prescription and pointed out that the patient and doctor's information are IDENTICAL. On 3/30 they upgraded my shipping to 1-business day and shipped the product. On 4/1 I called UPS and they confirmed the package was lost.
I emailed them on 4/1 AND 4/2. No response to date. They were quick to respond within 24 hours before the product was shipped. Looks like once they ship and have your money, they give zero f***s about you.
4/26/21 UPDATE:
The supervisor reached out soon after my review. She did her best to make things right. She watched my case on a daily basis. I finally got my year's worth of contact lens supply. Thanks a lot, Mindy!

Uploaded rx, rx shows on my account and auto fills info for order, place order and pay for expedited shipping because I need ASAP.
9:30 the night before contacts are supposed to arrive, I get email saying Rx hasn't been "verified".
Contact company through chat. Inform them rx was uploaded before order was placed. They say they need Dr's info and can't explain why they need it when they have Rx on my account with all info on it. Then tell me they will remove rush shipping charge but I can't get them for 4 more days. I say I'm not satisfied because I need contacts tomorrow but fine, I guess.
THEN I get a text telling me my order has been CANCELED!
Texting with new agent - oops, looks like you're order was accidentally canceled - shall I reorder for you?
I share my frustration about their repeated mistakes and am offered a "discount" (ha!) of removal of the expedited shipping fee that never happened - and still no contacts for 4 days. I share my shock that they are calling the removal of the rush shipping fee a DISCOUNT and tell them it is now MIDNIGHT, I need to be sleeping, and I'm done. Now that it's been over 2 hours, they offer a 20% discount... would I like them to charge my card again? Then they'll verify my Rx tomorrow and get my contacts to me Monday - 3 days later than expected. At this point, I trust NOTHING they say and suggest they send this order free in order to preserve not only my business but my husband's, which has been long-term... but you can guess how that went over. So, they've cost me DAYS - probably more than a week - since I'm starting over now with another company AND wasted well over 2 hours of my time.

I recently re-ordered contacts for our busy College Seniors Twins. I had the good fortune of speaking with Kirtley. She was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Their contacts arrived within 24 hours!
My contacts were 5 days past the estimated "received" date so I called customer service today. I expected the usual 20-minute or so wait time I usually get when calling a large company, but my call was answered IMMEDIATELY. The rep could not have been nicer. With all of the current USPS delays I expected them to tell me to keep waiting but instead they immediately put in a replacement order for me, free of charge, and with expedited shipping (my initial order was standard shipping). I could not be more pleased with my experience. I'm so used to big companies like this not caring at all about their customers, and I'm so pleasantly surprised by the personalized attention I got from 1-800-Contacts. Thank you!
I did not check a box of contacts I ordered until a month later. I was missing a box of contacts from my order. I emailed them and they got back to me the same day. They said they would send me a replacement box arriving within 4 days. What a reliable business! I highly recommend them. Best way to order contacts!
Warning! Watch the automatic quantity that is filled in for you! It takes a lot of effort to change the number they have filled in for you and make sure you check the cart before you submit your order. They try and get you to order way more than you need. I believe it is intentional on their part. I will never order from them again. Terrible website and slow service. Don't order from them.
In addition, I sent back the extra boxes of contacts they sent me (14 boxes) and am still waiting for a refund after three weeks. I just received an email today saying they have received my returned boxes and I can expect a refund in 3-10 business days. However, I know they received the returned boxes and that they were signed for on February 9th, 2021. I am so very disappointed in this company which I have been doing business with for 12 years. Such a disappointment.
Ordered contacts on 12/1/2020 12-weeks later still have not received lenses. I was told that a $73.00 refund would be given. That has not happened, When I called today it was stated that it would be another 4-6 weeks before they would receive lenses. That makes me out of lenses and $239.00 poorer. This is the worst place to order lenses. Order from anyplace else and you will be happier. I'm so sorry I placed my order
I had been a happy customer for many years. Customer service is always great, fast, friendly and efficient, and prices are competitive. You can always text them and expect a quick reply too, which is very convenient.
For the first time, I returned an unused pair of boxes and it was NOT a good experience. By text I was told I would get $85 for the two boxes (about 75% of the original price) but the refund ended up being only 50%, even though the boxes were full except for one lens in one of them, which I told them about. I would have been ok had they given me the right price from the beginning. But the main issue was that the refund took FIVE weeks because it was credited to my 1800 account instead of being refunded to my original form of payment, as I had requested.
The experience has been a disappointment from a company that I had otherwise been very happy with. But I have to stress that the friendliness and speed of their customer service is the best I’ve ever experienced.
I ordered contacts in the last week of the year with what was left in my health savings account. They first could not read the prescription I sent so I had to send photos of the boxes. This went around their customer service loop of order takers a couple of times before it finally landed in Brittany's hands. Brittany could at least read. She was sharp enough to notice that I made a error and didn't pick contacts for the astigmatism as it said on the box photo I sent. Rather than just calling me or emailing me or doing anything about this minor error, Brittany took the lazy way out and just cancelled the order! Now, the new year has passed. I called to beg to have the order reopened or backdated or whatever... nope. I lose out on $900 in health savings money, 1-800 contacts loses out on a $900 order and a lifelong customer all because of lazy Brittany who can't bridge the gap as to why people are placing such large orders with them in the last week of year! Think Brittany!
